Busst boost

Former Coventry City star David Busst has provided some much-needed festive cheer for injured Leamington Brakes under-15s player Conor Smith.

Sky Blues fan Conor broke a leg in two places shortly after scoring the final goal in his side’s 5-0 win over Stourbridge in late November.

In an effort to lift Conor’s spirits, the management and players at Leamington Brakes arranged for Busst to come down to the New Windmill and meet Smith, who faces being out of action until March at the earliest.

City’s director of football in the community presented Conor with a team photo and ball signed by the first team, and striker Gary McSheffrey’s boots.

“It was a bit of a shock, I didn’t expect it,” said Smith, who is now planning to have the items framed.
