Stefan Moore scored twice, with strike partner Danny Newton grabbing the other as the young Blues side were handed a lesson in finishing by their experienced rivals.

The home side took just seven minutes to open their account, Lee Moore robbing Ben Everton as he brought the ball out of defence and releasing Stefan Moore for a confident finish.

Everton’s centre-back partner Sam Berry was at fault for the second, allowing Newton to outmuscle him, with the striker then rounding keeper Connal Trueman and slotting into an empty net.

Leamington keeper Neil Collett was at full stretch to turn away an audacious effort from Liam Truslove and he needed to be at his best just before the interval to keep out a close-range effort from Viv Solomon.

Truslove was denied by another sprawling save from Collett in the 56th minute and seconds later Brakes had extended their advantage.

Richard Batchelor, starting his first game since a serious knee injury, released Stefan Moore and the former Villa man walked the ball into the net after a lucky ricochet off Trueman.

Blues scored a deserved consolation with eight minutes remaining when Solomon danced his way to the byline before setting up Truslove for a simple finish.

Brakes are back in action tonight (7.45pm) at home to Cheltenham before making the trip to Stratford on Tuesday evening.
