Crawford gets Racing Club up and running

RACING CLUB WARWICK 1 EARLSWOOD 0

A MartIn Crawford goal three minutes before half-time was enough to earn Racers their first points of the season at the fourth time of asking.

The strike brought to an end a barren spell in front of goal lasting more than five hours and was just reward for a confident display by the home side.

Bolstered by new signings Danny Lennon and Danny Charlton and the return of Ashley Pulisciano and Andre Lee Tullock, Lee Knight’s squad had a much stronger look about it and only an outstanding performance from the Earlswood keeper prevented the hosts turning their dominance into further goals.

“It was the best team performance since pre-season,” said Knight. “The four new faces freshened things up and it made a massive difference.

“We worked our socks off and their keeper was outstanding.”

However, despite the three points, which lifted Racers to 15th, Knight admitted his side’s lack of goals was still a concern.

“We must have created seven or eight good chances, which is still a little bit of an issue,” he said.

Racing Club travel to North-West Counties Division One side Eccleshall tomorrow for a Carlsberg Vase clash, with Knight aiming to retain the same starting XI for the first time since taking over.
