Errors prove costly for Town

KENILWORTH TOWN 0 CLEMENTS ‘83 3

Defensive errors condemned Kenilworth to their third successive defeat on Saturday and punctured much of the early-season optimism around Gypsy Lane.

Second-half goals from Jahmai Clarke (2) and Jemuel Clarke wrapped up the points for Clements, but Town boss Kev Kingham believed the scoreline flattered the visitors.

“The first half was an even affair with both teams forcing saves from the keepers,” said Kingham.

“But two errors in the second half cost us two goals - hopefully the lads will learn from their mistakes.

“And the last goal was when we were pushing to get back into game and we got caught on the counter attack.”

Kingham is hoping to recall injury victims Gary Joynes and Matty Lendon for this weekend’s double-header with Rugeley Rangers (tomorrow) and Barnt Green Spartak (Monday), but is clear he needs to add reinforcements to his side.

He added: “With new faces joining the club in next few weeks, we hope to change our fortunes around.”
