LYE TOWN LADIES 1 KENILWORTH TOWN LADIES 7

TOWN’s ladies gained the first-ever FA Cup win for a Kenilworth side with a convincing victory at West Midlands Women’s League side Lye.

Town started strongly, with their mobile midfield laying the platform for Kim Dougherty’s first-half hat-trick.

Lye, in contrast, found chances at a premium, with defenders Larri Windsor and Kat Ellis and keeper Liv O’Connor forming a solid barrier.

The opportunities continued to flow for Town after the break, however, with Alex Shilton the beneficiary of the excellent workrate of Abi Foster and Lucy Stevenson.

Shilton went on to match Dougherty’s treble, with Becky Jones capping a memorable afternoon with the visitors’ seventh.

Kenilworth will entertain Welsh side Total Network Solutions in the second qualifying round on Sunday October 14 (2pm).
