In the first game of the day, Leamington Lions under-15s beat Coundon Court under-16s 4-2, while the lunchtime kick-off saw Leamington’s youth team earn a 1-1 draw against Gordon Strachan’s Academy team.

The showpiece game saw Brakes volunteers, ex-players, veterans, coaches, directors and fans complete against each other on the hallowed New Windmill turf.

The Leamington FC ‘away team’, playing in vintage blue beat the gold and black ‘home’ team 5-3.

Brakes chairman, Jim Scott starred for the blues alongside youth team manager Daz Bradley, with outgoing Whitnash mayor Adrian Barton refereeing the game.

The day raised almost £400 for Leamington’s promotion push fund and trust board member Steve Wharton said the event was a huge success.

“It was a great day for everyone involved in Leamington FC to come together and support the club, either by watching a youth team game or pulling on a pair of boots and having a kickabout.

“The pitch and the ground is the cornerstone to the fans following, and giving fans and volunteers an opportunity to play there for 90 minutes rewards everyone for an entertaining and satisfying season.

“A massive thanks to Mark Davidson and Kev Watson from the board for supporting us on this ongoing project.”
