FOOTBALL: CRC knocked out of county cup by strong Digby Rangers

Only a few games this week as come to the end of the season.

No division one games were played, however, the leagues top two teams were in cup action.

CRC 1st were in the Birmingham County Roger Wood Memorial cup and faced a hard opposition in Digby Rangers. Digby Rangers who have the likes of former professional players of Lee Hendrie amongst their ranks, won 9-2. On a plus side for CRC, no team this season has scored more than one against the Birmingham club in a game.

The other team playing were Royal Oak United who were in the Hospital cup semi final. They played CRC Res and it was the division two side leading at half time 1-0. But Royal Oak pulled the game back and won 4-3 to head to Butlin Road on 3rd May where they play the winner of CRC 1st or Webb Ellis Lions who meet this week. Royal Oak United scorers were Tom Bishop and Josh Goodwin who got a goal each and Matt Shipman who got a brace. CRC Res goals coming from Will Scott, Harvey Sinclair and Lewis Halcrow.

In the Advertiser cup semi final, Paddox vets outplayed Bar 8 FC for much of the match and were deservedly winners in a game that ended 3-0 to the division three side. Paddox scorers were Rob Crinigan and David Rawes who got two. They will play the winner of Hillmorton V Rugby Borough vets who play this week. The final again being at Butlin Road on 3rd May.

In division two, Daventry Town Jaguars fell to a 4-1 defeat to Rugby Celts. Jaguars goals from Chris Bailey

Hillmorton and Braunston battled to a 2-2 draw. Hillmorton scorers were Peirce Ryan and Sean Rye. Braunston goals from Edward Buse and Lewis Isom.

Stag and Pheasant Newton were unfortunate to lose 2-1 to The George Daventry. Oliver Boult on target for Stag and Pheasant Newton with Ben Gatward and Kyle Young getting the goals for The George Daventry.
