FOOTBALL: Royal Oak the team to catch at top of the table


Despite freezing weather, some games still went ahead in the Rugby & District Sunday Football League.
In Division 1, leaders Royal Oak kept up the pressure at the top of the table beating bottom club Caldecott Arms 7-0.

Hide AdThird-placed The Bell slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Webb Ellis Eagles, who are in fifth spot.
In Division 2, the only game that went ahead saw Bar 8 FC climb the table with a 7-2 win over United Prince of Wales. Bar 8 went ahead through Tony Cole, who doubled the lead and his goal tally soon after. Richard Fletcher struck a nice free kick which found the top corner to make it 3-0 at half time.
United Prince of Wales were first to score in the second half but Cole scored his third to regain the three-goal lead.
Prince scored again before more goals came from Connor Shaw, Fletcher and Cole to take the points.

Hide AdThe result sees Bar 8 in seventh, just one place and two points behind the opponents after nine games.
