Hamp switch to striker is a big success for Racing Club Warwick

Hamp netted two late goals in the 4-2 win at Bishop's Stortford on Saturday followed by a 22-minute first half hat-trick in Tuesday's sensational 5-1 home win against Halesowen Town.

“I am really happy for Archie,” said joint boss Jack Edwards.
“He is quite an unassuming lad and quite laid back – almost horizontal at times.
“But when he is on his game – wow – he is something else.
“He has a lot more ability than me but I can sometimes see myself when I look at him.
“He is quite a rarity – he loves to win a header, is a real handful and I don't think I have seen anyone strike a ball better than him.”
He continued: “He has changed his role in the squad. When I first came here last year he had started last season as a full back.
“But we pushed him further up the pitch as he can't really defend.
“In the last couple of months we'd seen a lot off traits that lend themselves to being a successful striker.
“He is 6ft 3ins and great in the air, so it made a lot of sense to play him down the middle as a lone striker. He would be your worst nightmare as a centre half.
“And on Tuesday he really was a nightmare for Halesowen's back line. It was a pleasure to watch him.
“We took him off in the end as he had run out of steam a bit after giving so much in the first half. But he had got his rewards.”
