Holleran bemoans Charlton dismissal

Brakes boss Paul Holleran says it is becoming increasingly difficult to stomach a string of contentious decisions which are going against his side.

Asa Charlton’s 12th-minute sending-off and a twice retaken penalty were the main talking points of the 3-0 defeat at Southern Premier League leaders Brackley last Saturday, with Brakes slipping four points off the play-off places as a result.

“It’s a familiar pattern. A big decision has gone against us and we’re up against it,” said Holleran, who immediately threw on Jamie Hood to plug the gap left by Charlton, with David Kolody-nski the player to make way.

“Sometimes you keep it narrow and keep two up top.

“But so early in the game we decided to go two banks of four to stay in the game as long as we could and try and nick something late on when it opened up.

“We did well for long periods and we looked a threat in the second half.

“But you only have to look at the strikers on the bench to see the quality Brackley have got.

“They can bring Joe Magunda and Marvin Robinson on and still afford to keep Lee Steele on the bench.”

Leamington will continue their quest for a first win of 2012 at Bashley tomorrow without Liam Daly, who broke a finger in three places last Saturday.

Jon Adams, who missed the trip to St James Park with a mild form of pneumonia, has returned to AFC Telford, but Holleran is hopeful he can get the midfielder back to the New Windmill before the end of the season.

“He’s still got to get back into full training but I’ve spoken to Andy [Sinton] and we’ll review it.

“But it won’t be for the foreseeable future.”
