Holleran: Practice will make us perfect

Paul Holleran says hard work on the training ground is the only way for Brakes to get through their mini-slump.

Defeat at Cirencester last Saturday made it back-to-back losses for the first time since February and, with a blank weekend ahead, Holleran admits Brakes have gone back to basics.

“It’s been a tough couple of weeks for us, going out of the Trophy and losing to Cirencester,” said Holleran.

“But apart from working hard on the training pitch there’s not a lot more we can do.

“One or two players are off the boil for whatever reason and all you can hope is that they get through it themselves.

“The break isn’t ideal but has allowed us to get back on the training ground and work on shape and shadow work and hopefully it will freshen us up.”

Holleran admits Brakes have lacked quality in the final third, with their goal tally of 16 the worst in the top half.

However, repeated efforts to bring in more creativity have so far proved unsuccessful.

“We’ve been making enquiries for certain areas of the pitch and had one or two turn us down.

“But there’s a real shortage of quality and anyone we bring in has to better than what we’ve already got.”
