Hood is Brakes’ player of the year

Jamie Hood scooped two awards at Leamington’s presentation evening last Friday.

Central defender Hood moved to the New Windmill from Halesowen in September, with his arrival coinciding with Brakes’ sharp upturn in form.

Hood missed Brakes’ final four matches, including the play-off defeat to Hednesford, due to the birth of his second child and suspension, but he had already done enough to earn the supporters’ player-of-the-year accolade and also the Matt Blunt Trophy from internet fans forum The Banter.

The manager’s player of the year award was picked up by Stephan Morley, with Paul Holleran saying: ‘It was a close-run thing between a number of players. I was blessed with contenders.”

Skipper Lee Downes collected the players’ player award, preventing Hood from claiming a hat-trick by one vote.

Luke Corbett claimed the top scorer’s award, while Jacob Blyth’s match-winning header in the home clash against Chesham United saw him win the goal-of- the-season prize.

Clubman of the year was presented to club safety officer Kate Fisher in recognition of her match-day work and efforts in support of club events and sponsorship raising.
