Kay says Hibs have put goal worries behind them after prolific pre-season

Leamington Hibs fought out a 3-3 draw against FC Glades in their final pre-season friendly to give player-coach Rich Kay room for optimism ahead of their MidComb Division Two campaign.

Goals from Calum Yeates, Sam Canty and Ash Dutton put Hibs 3-2 up before Glades’ late equaliser, but following last season’s struggles in front of goal, Kay was not too disheartened by the late concession.

“If we maintain our defensive record and score goals as freely as we have been, we will have an exciting season,” he said.

Meanwhile, Taylor Hamill scored a hat-trick as Kenilworth beat Standard Triumph 6-2.

Danny McDonald, Luke Vuckovic and Filippo Mannina were also on target for Town, who begin their season tomorrow with a Les James Challenge Cup tie at home to Perrywood (3pm).

Hibs entertain Coventry United in the same competition.
