Kenilworth are in seven heaven

STONELEIGH 0 KENILWORTH TOWN 7

Kenilworth finished off the year with a comprehensive Stratford Alliance Division One victory.

A stunning spell midway through the second half which produced five goals in 15 minutes took the game away from Stoneleigh, but Town manager Kev Kingham said the margin of victory was no more than his side deserved.

“I was really pleased with the performance,” said Kingham. “I thought going forward we looked excellent and on another day we could easily have doubled the winning margin.

“Defensively we never looked like conceding and a clean sheet in any game is massive. This result can act as a springboard for the rest of the season now.

“An away win, a clean sheet and seven goals is the perfect end to 2011 and we can now go into 2012 full of confidence.

“I’ve felt we were heading in the right direction and this result is a sign of the progress we are making on the field.”

Despite bossing the first half, Town only held a slender half-time advantage thanks to an Adam Edwards strike five minutes before the break.

However, after Gary Joynes doubled their advantage, Town relaxed and produced a devastating spell between the 60th and 75th minute.

Joynes added his second and Edwards went on to take his tally to four, with Scott Donegan also getting on the scoresheet.
