Khalsa celebrate anniversary

Leamington Khalsa chairman Bakeramjit ‘Biker’ Singh was presented with an award last Saturday as the club celebrated their 40 years in existence with a dinner and dance.

The award was in recognition of him single-handedly running the club since its inception more than four decades ago.

After a long battle against prejudice, Biker formed Indian Boys in 1965, who, with the support of a local temple, went on to become Leamington Khalsa in 1971.

Since then, Leamington Khalsa have helped hundreds of people of all ages and cultures play together and learn from each other, with Biker remaining at the very heart of it.

The club have continued to flourish and now have three senior teams and an excellent youth set-up, with Biker still working towards his dream of securing Khalsa their own ground and facilities.
