Knight suffering off-field frustrations

RACING CLUB WARWICK 1 CONTINENTAL STAR 1

Racing Club warmed up for their FA Vase second-round clash at home to Wisbech with a deserved point against Midland Combination visitors Contintental Star last Saturday.

Luke Fuller scored a superb 74th-minute free-kick to give the hosts the lead, with Star equalising through Joshua O’Gara, also from a dead ball.

The point maintained Racing Club’s upward trajectory, with manager Lee Knight believing his side would have lost the game a month earlier.

However, Knight said that if Racers are to threaten the top four, the club need to improve their behind-the-scenes preparations for home games.

Problems with kit disrupted the pre-match build-up on Saturday and the former Evesham, Redditch and Halesowen Town defender admitted he let his frustrations boil over.

“The general stuff that should be getting done isn’t,” said Knight. “Nobody at the club is controlling the kit and it not acceptable.

“We need to be more professional going into home games as a collective.

“The mentality of the club isn’t where we want it to be and we need to sharpen up.”

However, Knight was much more complimentary about his players who dominated the first half against Continental before seeing their visitors have the better of the second.

“It was a really good game with two teams going at it,” he said.

“In the first half we were the better team and had a few chances that we didn’t put away.

“But they came back into it after the interval and either manager would have been gutted if they had lost the game.”
