Leamington League chasing new sponsor

The Leamington & District Sunday League is seeking a new sponsor after Prestige Skoda announced it would not be continuing its backing for the 2011/12 season.

Prestige Skoda has been sold by the Foskett family, which brings to an end a 22-year association which started in 1989-90 when Prestige Garage, Citroen Agents, entered a team into the league.

The secretary and proprieter of Prestige Garages was Ron Foskett and under his guidance the team enjoyed six successful seasons in the league.

The demise of the team did not end the association as Foskett agreed to sponsor the league as Prestige Citroen and then Brandish Vauxhall, which continued until 2005.

Ron had by now retired and his son Mark took over, with Prestige Skoda sponsoring the league for a further six seasons.

League assistant and cup finals secretary Tracey Thomas paid tribute to the family’s backing, saying: “The league will forever be greatly indebted to the Fosketts for 16 years of sponsorship plus another six running a team and our sincere thanks are extended to to both Ron and Mark.”

Anyone wishing to take over the sponsorship of the league is asked to contact league secretary Steve Falp on 312428.

In addition, the Leamington & District League also have three internal cups which are without a sponsor.
