Long-awaited hat-trick for Leamington Hibs

The home side started strongly and opened the scoring froma corner, but Hibs responded well, with Andy Yeates heading home a Filippo Mannina’s delivery for a quick-fire equaliser.

Five minutes later, an Adam Edwards corner was half-cleared to Ash Knight who unleashed an unstoppable volley into the top corner.

Alcester were hanging on as the half-time whistle approached with Harvey White and Edwards both having shots saved.

Sam Scott’s curling shot went in off the post to make it 3-1 after the break and Edwards hit the bar before being denied in a one-on-one by the home keeper.

Ryan Woodward then blazed over from six yards and player-coach Rich Kay said his side’s failure to convert a host of chances was the game’s only negative.

“The performances just keep getting better and better,” said Kay.

“The squad have settled down and we are now playing the football we are capable of.

“It’s probably our best performance of the season as we could have scored six or seven if not for some poor finishing.

“We can’t complain, though, as that’s three wins in a row for the first time with this management team and group of players.”

Kay also highlighted the contribution of goalscorer Scott, who scored his first goal in senior football.

“Sam Scott has made the step up from the youth team and capped a fine performance with a superb goal,” added Kay.
