Owen in boost to Brakes’ options

MIDFIELDER Nick Stanley has told Leamington manager Paul Holleran that he will be looking to play football elsewhere next season.

Stanley, who joined Brakes late last season to help the team’s promotion push, cited the difficulty of lengthy commuting and increasing work commitments as his reasons for leaving.

Holleran said: “Nick’s arrival was initially a short term arrangement, however I know he enjoyed his time here at the club and gave considerable thought to remaining here.

“Unfortunately the logisitics of travel and work commitments were too much.

“He has been a pleasure to deal with and we wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts.”

Bringing in another midfielder, Brakes have signed 23-year-old Craig Owen from Sutton Coldfield Town.

Holleran said: “Craig has the attributes to step up a level and make an impact.

“I have been following his progress for a number of years and once I knew he was available, it was an easy decision to make to approach him.

“He is versatile, a good reader of the game and passer of the ball and I believe he will add something to the squad.”

Brakes opening pre-season friendly at the New Windmill Ground on Friday July 8 (7.45pm ko) will now be against Blue Square Conference Premier Tamworth FC.

Recently appointed manager Marcus Law will be bringing his first team to Harbury Lane for his first game in charge of The Lambs.

Admission prices for Brakes’ home pre-season friendlies are £5 adults, £3 concessions, children under 16 £1 and children under 12 free.
