Pressure is on as Holleran prepares Brakes for relegation battle in Wales

Leamington boss Paul Holleran is adamant that nothing will be decided in this weekend’s crucial trip to Colwyn Bay.

The Welsh club sit second from bottom in the Vanarama Conference North and four points behind the Brakes.

Victory for Holleran’s team could be crucial in their attempts to pull away from the drop-zone.

The Brakes boss feels there is more pressure on the hosts than his team ahead of the clash.

But he insists his team will be going all out in an attempt to return home with three precious points.

“We are fully aware there are teams in this league you play where you have to be at your very best to win,” he said.

“There are also teams who are very similar to us in terms of stature and the amount of money we spend – and Colwyn Bay are one of those.

“They are one of the teams who are in our little league and we have to play Gainsborough, Stalybridge and Gloucester who are in there as well.

“Like those games, this weekend won’t decide anything but clearly it is an important one.

“We know if we can go there and get a positive result then it begins to make things difficult for them as we approach the last 10 games or so.

“We have managed to get some points on the board recently and we want that to continue but it will be tough.

“The pressure is probably on them more than us because they are at home and they need to start winning games.

“But we are looking forward to it, we have been playing positively and we will go there looking to win.”

The Brakes suffered a 2-0 defeat to leaders Barrow at the New Windmill Ground last weekend and Holleran admitted there was a real tinge of disappointment with the way his team performed.

“There does have to be a bit of realism sometimes,” he added.

“But the one thing you need when you play the likes of Barrow and Fylde is for every player to be right at it and that wasn’t the case last weekend.

“That was the most disappointing thing about it from my point of view.”
