Racing Club still suffering problems at both ends

NUNEATON GRIFF 1 RACING CLUB WARWICK 0

Racing Club boss Tony Clarke was left bemoaning his side’s usual failings as they crashed to their fifth successive Midland Combination Premier Division defeat.

The hosts had looked the better side in the first half but Racing Club upped the tempo after the break and had several chances to take the lead.

However, they failed to convert and were punished in the 88th minute when Kieron Brehon latched on to a long ball over the top and slotted home the winner.

“We got at Nuneaton but did not put the ball in the back of the net,” said Clarke.

“Then our defence switch off for a split second and we again concede a goal in the closing minutes.

“But I have to say overall we competed and were more than a match for a top-five side.

“The lads are very young, inexperienced and I’d say 70 per cent of them have not played at this level before.

“But with very limited financial backing, I have to work with the lads I have got and bring in young players who are hungry and want to play for the club.”

Racers have a chance to end their losing streak tomorrow when they entertain Coventry Copsewood (3pm).
