Shearsby is optimistic after Alcester draw

Kenilworth Town boss Barry Shearsby praised his side’s response after they bounced back from a 3-0 MidComb Division Two defeat at Coventry Spartans to draw 1-1 with title-challenging Alcester.

Matt Hughes scored Town’s goal ten minutes from time and despite his side conceding a last-minute equaliser, Shearsby said he could not be too despondent.

“We had a few missing and had to bring in 18-year-old Kurt Parsons, who was excellent, and two lads who are 19-20 into the centre of the park,” said Shearsby.

“We made Alcester look silly at stages and the signs are good for next season.”
