A Luke Swinnerton brace helped Cubbington Albion into the final of the Division Two Cup in one of only three Leamington & District Sunday League games to survive the cold snap.

Swinnerton opened the scoring against Bowling Green, who replied through Paul Houghton.

The Cubbington skipper then popped up in the 80th minute to make it third-time lucky for manager Mark Quinton, who had previously overseen two agonising semi-final defeats.

Whitnash took advantage of their title rivals’ inactivity to go to the top of Division Two with a comfortable 7-2 victory over DJC Sporting.

Dan Green led the scoring with a hat-trick, with further goals coming from Ryan Woodward (2), Paul Lee and Chris Jones.

George Hallard and Stephen de Bruyne replied for DJC.

Kineton S&SC Reserves moved off the bottom of Division Five with a 
4-1 win over HRI Wellesbourne.

Dan Stokes (2), Tom Gardner and James Townsend got the Kineton goals, with Imrich Matej scoring a late consolation for HRI Wellesbourne.
