Two draws in the space of three days have extended Leamington FC’s unbeaten run to three games as they continue to find their feet once more in the National League South.

A goalless draw at Marine on Saturday was followed by another trip to the north-west on Tuesday night where they drew 1-1 at Warrington Town with Cally West on target in the first-half.

And speaking after Tuesday’s game, boss Paul Holleran said he had mixed feelings about the result.

He said: “We got ourselves in a really good position [with the goal] and then had a couple of really good chances to get a second, and it was a good game against a good side where we got ourselves in to some good positions.

"Certainly in the first-half, that was our best spell, but we sometimes passed when we should have shot and shot when we should have passed at times.

"Because they’re so open and expansive, if you can look after their top five you’ll get yourself some opportunities and we did a lot of things right.

"I think the first 15 minutes of the second-half was always going to be important, and there were big moments for their goal that we could have done better but there was one big moment out of our control with it when the centre-forward has gone through on goal and clipped our lad.

"The goal came from that phase and we’ve thought we’re going to get something and maybe one or two of our lads have emotionally stopped, although it was a good pass and finish from them.

"It’s a big moment and for the life of me I can’t understand how any official at any level can’t see that.”

Leamington now have a free weekend as their game at home to Oxford City was postponed due to four of Oxford’s players having been called up for international duty.

The rearranged match will now take place on Tuesday, September 24.

It means Leamington are next in action when they host step four side Carlton Town, from Nottingham, in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday, September 14.
