Four-midable Doyle strikes more world record blows

Martial arts coach Paddy Doyle did not disappoint his supporters at Stamina’s Self Defence Gym in Erdington, breaking four more records to take his career tally of fitness, endurance and boxing/martial arts records to a staggering 315.

Doyle achieved 60 jumping jacks in a minute while carrying a 105lb backpack before a short break helped him prepare for his assault on Ahmad Amin Bodla’s record for the most upper body knee strikes in 30 seconds.

Bodla’s record stood at 71, which was achieved without a backpack.

However, Doyle beat the black belt’s mark by three contact strikes, while also wearing his 105lb backpack.

The Balsall Common athlete then followed up with 65 upper body martial arts kicks in 30 seconds, also carrying the backpack.

The previous mark, set without a backpack, had been 53, set by American Travis Matheson.

Doyle’s final challenge was to set a new upper body knee strike record of 82 in 33 seconds, carrying the same weight.

Doyle, who currently holds 216 strength/speed/stamina titles, said he already had his next challenge lined up.

“I am now focused on training for the Guinness cross country marathon backpack record,” said Doyle.

“And I hope to attempt more than one official cross country record on the day.”
