Lillington Free Church A were bottom of Division One after a disappointing third day of competition but a strong final day pushed them to fourth, only a point behind Knighton Park A (Leicester) with whom they drew.

Convincing 5-1 wins over Milton Keynes A and St Neots A plus a 4-2 success over Draycott A (Long Eaton) propelled them up the division, with their only blemish being a 5-1 reverse to champions St Neots B.

All of the players bettered their averages with Adam Cofler returning 70 per cent on the day and Kit Turner and the league’s top girl Olivia Fletcher an outstanding 60 per cent.

Rugby beat Milton Keynes B 4-2 on their way to the Division Two title.

Draycott B were also defeated 4-2 and Lillington B and C fell 5-1, while the unorthodox players of Wellingborough Hindu Association held them to a draw.

Niall Herbert starred with 95 per cent and Sam Cafearo returned 85 per cent.

Lillington B had the misfortune to lose number one Jack Green through injury after the first match, resulting in them conceding two sets per match.

They lost 5-1 to Rugby, Draycott B and Wellingborough Hindus, 4-2 to Milton Keynes B and drew with their C side 3-3.

The C team were weakened by illness before the day but battled admirably despite finishing sixth.

James Robertson won five out of ten and Tom Fletcher tasted victory on four occasions.

In Division Three, the D team’s day turned on Ashley Knott’s match with Charlie Rabe, which saw the Lillington player suffer rotten luck to lose deuce in the fifth.

The defeat turned a potential 4-2 win into a draw and left them two point shy of the title.

Katie Singleton finished on 75 per cent, with Knott claiming a highly creditable 64 per cent in his first representative season.
