Harbury Ladies net a whole host of league prizes

Harbury Ladies were the big winners when the Coventry and Warwickshire Netball Association (CWNA) held its 69th annual presentation evening at the Holiday Inn in Coventry.

Awards were handed out for league and tournament winners in addition to special accolades voted for by the association’s 800 members.

Harbury Ladies’ B team were awarded the Jenny Holmes Trophy for winning Division Seven and also picked up the Lexor trophy for Best Newcomers.

Harbury’s A team claimed the E Leaf Trophy for finishing runner-up in Division Three, while the club’s Hilary Wilson was awarded the Joan Grice Plate for services to the sport.

To complete the club’s success, Polly McDaid was awarded the Margaret Holt Trophy for Young Umpire of the Year, while her mother Beccy McDaid was presented with the Charlesworth Cup for Coach of the Year.

Division Three winners Leamington C were awarded the Dominique Matthews Award after success in the end-of-season tournament andWhitnash were rewarded with the FC Palfrey Cup for lifting the Division Five title.

The 70th year of the CWNA will see a season of celebratory events taking place including the introduction of the Platinum Cup competition.

All 70 registered teams will be given the opportunity to play in this knockout competition with finals taking place before the 70th annual presentation awards in 2016.
