Harris’ second-half strike adds the gloss to Khalsa success

Khalsa dominated possession early on and created a chance from a short corner but Aaron Nagra was unable to convert it.

However, the hosts took the lead against the run of play when a cross deflected off Chris Darling to wrongfoot keeper Elliot Rider.

Khalsa responded in a calm manner with Darling making amends for the Harborne goal with a superb reverse stick cross to find Jo Colantonio who steered the ball into the net.

Stuart Gooderham then provided the spadework for Khalsa’s second goal, riding several challenges and drawing the keeper off his line before slipping in Sav Lall to score.

Khalsa adopted a different shape after the break with Sean Robinson, Ben Scott and Ben Stephenson dictating play from the back, while Jack Wells and Gurminder Ghattaura provided the creativity in midfield.

A superb reflex save denied Ghattaura and the game remained on a knife edge until Darling produced a pinpoint aerial ball to find Jas Singh who linked well with Mandeep Sandhar before powering the ball home.

Amritpal Atwal then pinched the ball off the home defence and set up Ghattaura whose first-time shot was deflected into the path of David Harris for a simple finish.

Khalsa 2nds lost 4-3 at home to high-flying University of Birmingham.

Darshane Theara scored twice for Khalsa, with Jay Nagra also on target.

Two goals from Parvinder Singh Sangha could not prevent Khalsa 4ths going down to a 3-2 defeat at home to Edgbaston 8ths.
