Hedley joined Jockey Club Racecourses in 2012 and qualified as a clerk of the course the following year when she took on both Nottingham and Market Rasen.

Originally from south-east Scotland, she had previously worked in the racing industry for some 15 years, the last six of which were as yard manager for Mark Johnston Racing in Leyburn.

Hedley said: “It is a really exciting time to be joining Warwick Racecourse with its focus as an all-jumps track.

“I am looking forward to taking on a fresh challenge and helping to solidify Warwick’s position as one of the premier small jumps tracks in the country.

“I am very proud of what we have achieved at Nottingham and Market Rasen over the last few years with both tracks now holding the ROA Gold Standard Award in recognition of their excellent owners’ raceday experience.

“Being clerk of the course for Nottingham and Warwick will work well as Nottingham is a summer Flat course and Warwick is a winter jumps course.

“I will be sad to leave Market Rasen but am delighted to have been given this new opportunity.”

Hedley will take over from Sulekha Varma, who has been clerk of the course at Warwick and Huntingdon since 2012 and is leaving Jockey Club Racecourses to become racing manager at Hamilton Park Racecourse in South Lanarkshire.

A process is already being undertaken by Jockey Club Racecourses to fill Hedley’s position at Market Rasen and Varma’s position at Huntingdon.
