Horne gives everything to the cause as Britain take team gold

Great Britain's team pursuit line-up re-enact their podium celebrations, this time with Ciara Horne, far right.

Horne joined up with Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Amy Roberts as Team GB eased to victory over Canada in the final of the team pursuit.

However, the 25-year-old was forced to pass on the medal presentation in Guadalajara after the final exertions took their toll.

“I couldn’t get on the podium as I was on oxygen lying on the floor feeling pretty ill,” said Horne who came in for the final two rounds when Britain won European gold last month.

“But I’m really happy as it’s another step up in the right direction - I got three rides this time.”

With Joanna Rowsell due to return for the London round of the series, Horne admits there is still work to be done if she is to cement her place in the team for the remainder of the campaign.

She added: “There’s no room for complacency at all as I really want to make the London World Cup team and, more than anything, the World Championship team this season.”
