Keirle is a Formula One-off

Karter Danny Keirle has been tipped for the very top by those in the know.

The 13-year-old, who is a pupil at Kineton High School, is leading the ABkC Junior TKM National Championship following victories in both finals at Shenington last time out.

Keirle, who drives for Edgehill-based Jade Karts, had previously picked up a first and a third from the opening weekend of racing.

Eleven wins in all forms of racing this year plus two lap records have helped bring him to the attention of leading figures within the sport, including five-time British kart champion Mark Allen, who claims Keirle was “the best driver he had seen in 40 years involved in the sport”.

Former professional golfer Steve Hutchinson is another who predicts a bright future for Keirle and, having recently stepped in to manage the youngster, he was quick to underline his potential.

“He’s just a bit special,” said Hutchinson.

“I am no expert but have been involved in motor sport for many years and I have only seen one other driver with this kind of natural talent and he went on to win the F1 world championship.”

Keirle will be back in action in Cumbria this weekend in the third round of the British Championship.
