Kenilworth are Roman conquerers on a good morning for local athletes

Twenty Kenilworth Runners joined Stef Lunn at Newbold Comyn to celebrate her 100th parkrun last Saturday.

Phil Gould was the first of them home, running well to clock 17 minutes exactly.

Gould was followed by Steve Marr (8th in 18:33) and Pete Bryan (9th in 18:38), while there was a new personal best for Andrew Holbrook (19:10).

However, none of them had any answer to Leamington C&AC’s Andy Savery, making his first appearance at Leamington, who completed the winter variation of the course in 16:22.

Rugby & Northampton AC’s Emily Waugh was the first female and tenth overall in an impressive 18:39, while Lunn, saving herself for the following day’s Not The Roman IX, had the honour of being Kenilworth’s first female finisher in 26:56.

The icy conditions which forced the cancellation of Coventry parkrun led to a record 420 finishers.
