Kenilworth Runners duo enjoy their TV exposure

Kenilworth Runners’ Imogen Peace and Patrick Roddy represented Warwickshire in the Inter-County Cross Country Championships at Cofton Park, Birmingham, last Saturday.

The event, which was broadcast live on Sky Sports, featured some of Britain’s finest running talent, with world sprint triathlon champion Jonathan Brownlee coming fifth in the senior men’s race, which was won by Keith Gerrard.

The ladies’ senior race was held over 8,000m and Peace ran excellently to finish 135th out of 248 finishers in a time of 32min 22sec.

Three Kenilworth Runners headed south-west to take part in the 31st Bath Half Marathon.

The race was won by Kenyan Edwin Kiptoo in a course record time of 1:02:01.

Pete Bryan was the only Kenilworth Runner taking part in the Friends of Mick ‘n’ Phil Half Marathon at Draycote Water and soon found himself in fourth position, though adrift from the lead runners. A fairly lonely race ensued with Bryan losing just one place to finish fifth in a time of 1.23.52.

Spa Striders were the best represented club, with Trevor Wilkinson leading them home in 1:28:57 for 13th place. Marc Weissenberger knocked more than six minutes off his personal best to come 31st in 1:34:06, with Clare Hinton (1:37.17) also producing a PB.
