Kenilworth Runners Rule Roost at Pitchcroft

Kenilworth Runners were highly successful at the Worcester Pitchcroft 10k with Chris McCarthy claiming his third victory over this distance in 2013 and Marie Voice winning the ladies’ race.

McCarthy set off with the intention of clocking 32min 40sec and he hit the necessary splits through 3k but sensibly slowed down due to the hot conditions.

He held off the challenge of last year’s winner Oliver Harrdence of Royal Sutton Coldfield and coasted through the final two kilometres to win in 33:31.

Voice came home just five seconds under her personal best in 43:00, which was over two minutes clear of Guernsey runner Kate Wilesmith in second.

This was despite Voice taking brief breaks at water stations to provide some respite from the ferocious heat.

Kenilworth’s Danielle Mohacsi was third in 45:54, which was less than half a minute outside her Two Castles 10k time.
