Khalsa prove far too Good for derby rivals Hampton

Gurminder Ghattaura and Jas Singh were both denied by the Hampton keeper and Aaron Nagra struck the woodwork from a penalty corner before Khalsa made the breakthrough courtesy of an unstoppable shot from Alex Idoine.

Sean Robinson doubled the lead, lifting his shot into the roof of the net to give Khalsa a useful cushion at the break.

The next goal was crucial and it went to the hosts with the move of the match.

Slick one-touch passing between Ghattaura, Singh and Stuart Gooderham allowed Khalsa to counter and Anit Chudasama slipped the ball to Joe Colantonio at the back post for a simple tap-in.

Sav Lall and Mandeep Sandhar went close to extending the lead before Gooderham pounced on a partially cleared penalty corner to complete the scoring.

Khalsa 2nds suffered a 4-0 defeat to Midlands Premier League leaders Cannock, while their third string were unlucky to suffer a 5-3 defeat at home to Bridgnorth in Midlands One.

Warwick Men’s 1sts made it three wins and three clean sheets on the bounce in Midlands Division Two courtesy of a convincing 5-0 win over Wolverhampton.

Martyn Stickley scored four goals in 20 first-half minutes to settle the game before adding a fifth after the break, while Rob Pomfrett had a shot cleared off the line.

Warwick 3rds suffered a 4-3 defeat at home to unbeaten Harborne in Midlands One.

Harborne twice went in front only for Warwick to fight back with a penalty from Ralph Veltom and an excellent drag-flick from Alp Shaw after good work from John Kane on the right.

Warwick then went 3-2 up after Kane forced his way into the D and unleashed an unstoppable reverse-stick shot.

Harborne got back on level terms with 12 minutes remaining and then scored a controversial winner with Warwick convinced the ball had hit a home foot in the build-up to the goal.

Ten-man Coalville made Warwick 5ths battle hard for a 3-1 success in South East Division Two.

Two goals from Jack Bould and one from Luca Cardellino proved enough to extend Warwick’s winning start to the season to four matches.

Warwick men’s under-16s remain unbeaten after beating Banbury in two friendly games which took place as part of a triangular match also including Edgbaston.

After Edgbaston beat Banbury 8-1, Warwick then went on to inflict a second defeat on them with Alp Shaw, Elliot Hobbs and Gabe Thornton on target in a 3-0 success.

Warwick and Banbury then faced each other again in a much tighter contest, with a double from Thornton and a further strike from Shaw wrapping up a second victory for the hosts.
