Khalsa travel all that way for nothing

Khalsa’s longest trip of the season was made all the more painful as they suffered a 6-0 National League defeat at Durham University.

The hosts started the game in third and subjected Khalsa to a spell of early pressure which was rewarded in the 12th minute with a goal from Alex Czerniewski.

Seven minutes later Durham doubled their lead with a spectacular diving effort from Josh Barnes.

Khalsa responded well and were unlucky not to pull a goal back, with Gury Ghattaura narrowly off-target with a shot and Aaron Nagra’s seeing a short-corner effort deflected around the post.

Czerniewski’s second of the game looked to have secured the game for Durham, but Khalsa enjoyed a 15-minute spell which saw Jas Singh, Adie Betts and Anit Chudasama all denied by the in-form home keeper.

With the visitors chasing the game, their defence was left exposed and the students took full advantage with three goals in the space of six minutes.

Matthew Murphy’s penalty stroke made it 4-0 before Tony Wilson pounced four minutes later and Khalsa’ misery was complete when Barnes added his second of the game with 20 minutes still remaining.
