Khalsa welcomed back Jack Wells and Chris Darling after lengthy spells away and showed the improved quality available by taking a well-deserved lead through Alex Idoine.

Sean Robinson was denied in a one-on-one while Amritpal Atwal came agonisingly close to extending Khalsa’s lead and they were made to pay when Bournville equalised with a powerful strike from the top of the D.

Khalsa keeper Elliot Rider was called into action to deny Bournville from a string of short corners as the teams went in at the interval level.

After the break, Khalsa pushed for a second, only to be punished for their over-commitment when Bournville scored on the break.

The hosts looked to sit back on their advantage but fine build-up play between Jas Singh, Gurminder Ghattaura and Idoine, allowed Ghattaura to slot home an equaliser.

Khalsa were revitalised and came within a whisker of restoring their lead from an Aaron Nagra short corner.

However, they suffered heartbreak in the final minute when a crash ball from the right was tipped in to give Bournville all three points.

Khalsa 3rds’ disappointing run of form continued with an 8-0 defeat at Belper in Midlands Division One.

The scoreline flattered the home side, but Khalsa can have no complaints after finding themselves on the back foot for much of the game.

Khalsa initially stood up to the pressure well but fell behind to two short corners and then conceded three goals in quick succession to go in at the break 5-0 down.

They switched to three up front in the second half, but conceded three further goals to leave them deep in relegation trouble.
