Leamington riders benefit from the inside track

More than 300 riders competed in the opening round of the Schwalbe British 4X Series at Campion Hills in Leamington on Sunday, with the fine weather bringing out the crowds.

The Leamington-based RLS4X The Bikeyard/Nukeproof team of Josh Bremridge, Elliot Thompson Knight, Cai Mahon, Chris Beckett and Nathan Parsons used their knowledge of the track’s steep hills and sharp turns to fnish second.

Bremridge, who has stepped up to the junior category after finishing second in the youth section last season, battled gear problems to make the B final where he finished sixth.

Other notable individual performances came from Thomson Knight, who won the youth final, with Cai Mahon finishing close behind him in second.

The team’s elite rider, Nathan Parsons, finished third in his event behind two former world champions in Tomas Slavik and Scott Beaumont.

The second round of the series will take place at Penshurst Off Road Club, Kent, on Sunday April 29.
