Megan’s super run bags her silver

Cubbington triathlete Megan McDonald added another medal to her recent success at the British Duathlon Championships by taking silver in the British Aquathlon Championships.

On a cold, early start at Kingsbury, McDonald emerged from the choppy 400m swim in seventh place in 6min 25sec.

A steep run to the transition area and a very quick change allowed McDonald to gain three places ahead of the 2.5k hilly run.

However, despite moving into second place during the run, McDonald was unable to bridge the gap to West Midlands Academy team-mate Sian Rainsley, who won the race in 16:30.

McDonald was 12 seconds adrift, but her silver medal was good enough to put her into first place in the season-long Super Series.
