Feasey family tree

Former Leamington community beat bobby Dave James supplied this picture of his great-great grandfather William Feasey, who once owned stables in the town.

The photograph was taken in the early 1900s and shows William standing with his father, Daniel Feasey, who was the town cryer for Leamington for some 30 years between the 1840s and the 1870s.

But where were the stables?

Dave, who retired from the Warwickshire force in 2009, said: “I have done a lot of research on my family tree but I can’t identify where these stables where and wondered if your readers would be able to help.

“I believe there was some connection with R. Starkey, who also owned stables in Leamington and there is some suggestion of a carriage of a carraige business and a base in Regent Street, who in the past was known as Wellington Street.

“I do know my great grandmother Edith grew up in the Church Hill, next to the Woodland Tavern, in the late 1800s and - if you dig far enough back - there’s even a connection with the great-great-great grandfather of Victoria Beckham!”

Are these my Southam great-grandparents?

Another family historian, Carole Till, wonders if anybody in the Southam area recognises these pictures of a couple who might just be one set of her great-grandparents.

Carole says: “I always intended to ask my mum to put names to a number of old family photographs but, sadly, I left it too late as she died in 2004.

“I do know my grandmother was Mary Jane Baldwin and she was born in Southam in 1885 and worked in service in Leamington before marrying Alfred John Parker in 1909.

“Alfred worked on the railways and went on to become the station master at Rugby. His father - my great-grandfather - was a plate-maker called Frederick Parker and her father was a labourier called William Baldwin.

After their wedding in Southam the couple had two sons, Bill and Fred, and three daughters, Carole’s own mother, Phyllis, and her sisters Jessie and Iris.

Anyone with any information about the Parker or Baldwin families can telephone Carole on: 07798 900638.
