RUGBY: Old Laurentians Under 10s win with core values to reach Tigers finals

Old Laurentians Under 10s have earned the honour of playing in front of a packed Leicester Tigers crowed of over 23,000 in April.

Back in October, the group of 11 boys and girls from OLs U10s travelled to Leicester Forest East after being invited to play in the heats of the annual Prima Tiger Cup.

They played four hard- fought games in extreme weather conditions to emerge victorious.

Not only did they remain undefeated in their four games, but also retained their winning points by emulating the RFU’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

The Fenley Field youngsters went on to play in the next stage of the competition on a blustery Saturday in the wake of Storm Dennis and 35mph winds.

They played on the pitch at Leicester Tigers after the Tigers v Wasps Premiership game.

Here they faced qualifying teams from all over the country and the draw saw them up against two very strong sides namely Ilkeston and Melton Mowbray.

The key here was strong defence and scoring the first points.

The boys and girls played out of their skins and calmly and confidently emerged victorious from both games.

Each and every player contributed to the results and positive feedback was received from the referee, linesmen and other teams.

Some great passing, use of space, rapid speed and a defensive line that any team would be envious of saw this fabulous group of children achieve their dream.

This small group of players and their five proud coaches now go through to the grand final which will be held in April in front of a full Leicester Tigers crowd of over 23,000 people.
