Like many teams across the region, Rugby Lions were without a game on Saturday.

Their scheduled fixture at Wellingborough was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It would have been a good test for Lions, who have suffered a recent run of defeats in their Midlands 1 East campaign, since their last 16-12 win over Peterborough on January 18.

Wellingborough are propping up the table with just one win and six points from their 20 games.

This weekend’s opponents, weather permitting are Derby.

It is an away game following the switch of venues to Webb Ellis Road back in November when their pitch was flooded.

The hosts are currently third in the division, but haven’t played in the league since early February, when they beat Old Northamptonians 28-15 and Olney 49-15.

Runaway leaders Syston have 94 points from 19 wins boasting a 100 per cent record.

Rugby Lions are safely mid-table this season in ninth place, with 44 points from nine wins in their 20 games so far.

Old Laurentians are at home to Spartans (Midlands) this Saturday in their latest Midlands 2 West (South) game.

Their final league fixture is against Nuneaton Old Edwardians at their Lime Tree Avenue ground on April 18.

Rugby Welsh are in great form at the top of Midlands 5 (South), nine points ahead of Redditch, who have played one game more.

Welsh visit eighth-placed Keresley on Saturdaybefore a trip to Stourport, in sixth, on March 21.
