Champion trainer Paul Nicholls clocked up just six winners through the summer months, but he has since hit form with a vengeance and took the feature race at both the last two meetings here with Vibrato Voltat and Ptit Zig, the latter looking a live candidate for honours at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Thursday’s opening race is the Racing UK Anywhere Available Now Juvenile Hurdle over two miles and the longest event of the day is the fifth, the Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap Chase over the marathon trip of three miles and five furlongs, which will require stamina in abundance in the likely testing ground.

There should be plenty of competition in the third, W O Lewis Handicap Chase, which is a qualifier for the Jockey Club Grassroots Jumps Series, now in its fourth year, having been introduced in 2011/12 under the sponsorship of Betfair.
