Record is pushover for Paddy

Not one to turn down a challenge, Paddy Doyle showed his class by regaining the world push-up record from Australian Neil Bryant.

Bryant completed 48 push-ups in a minute while carrying a 40lb backpack, but Doyle eclipsed his mark by two to rewrite his name in the record books.

After a ten-minute break, the Balsall Common athlete then completed 30 back-of-the-hands push-ups in a minute while carrying a 100lb backpack to set the new Guinness world record mark.

And, following another ten-minute recovery period, Doyle completed 19 one-handed push-ups using only his right arm, which was later reduced to 17 by the judge.

The treble took his total of career strength, speed, fitness records to 235, of which he currently holds 135.

Doyle is now aiming to achieve 250 documented fitness endurance records.
