What a fantastic weekend of rugby - with home wins for all four clubs.

In their eagerly awaited top-of-the-table clash, Rugby Lions silenced any doubters after their two recent defeats, with an emphatic 45-18 victory at Webb Ellis Road over new leaders Silhillians.

Lions were 19-10 up at half time but Sils gave fans an anxious few minutes when they pulled back to 19-18. That was the end of their scoring though, as Lions regained their top spot in Midlands 2 West (South) and defended well to prevent Sils from picking up a bonus point.

Lions are now four points ahead of Sils in Midlands 2 West (South) on 73 points to 69, with third-placed Spartans on 66.

Next weekend (11th) Lions are away at sixth-placed Southam, with Spartans hosting Sils. The following week (18th) sees Lions at Silhillians for the Midlands final of the RFU Intermediate Cup.

Newbold stay ten points clear at the top of Midlands 1 East after their VPs Day win over tenth-placed Paviors. They triumphed 24-12 at Parkfield Road and now have 96 points from their 21 league games, with Kettering second on 86 and Old Northamptonians 77. ONs lost on Saturday, beaten 22-14 by Northampton Old Scouts, while Kettering won 44-17 against Wellingborough.

This weekend Newbold travel to ninth-placed Bugbrooke.

Old Laurentians had an excellent 48-19 win at Fenley Field which keeps them in second spot in Midlands 2 East (South). They beat seventh-placed Luton to stay three points ahead of third-placed Oadby Wyggestonians. Leaders Peterborough, who beat struggling Rushden & Higham 89-0 on Saturday, are 14 points clear at the top on 76 points. OLs have 62 points, Oadby 59 and Oundle 58.

This weekend OLs have a trip to eighth-placed Market Harborough.

Rugby Welsh put in a confident and dominant performance to win 45-5 at Alwyn Road and secure the bonus point against Trinity Guild. Welsh are now third in Midlands 5 West (South) and Trinity Guild sixth.

This weekend Welsh are away at Birmingham Exiles, who slipped to fourth after losing 45-5 to league leaders Burbage on Saturday.

After two weeks without a game, Rugby St Andrews, who are seventh in Midlands 3 West (South) visit tenth-placed Upton-on-Severn on Saturday.
