In a sombre week for both clubs, mourning the losses of Dom Marsella and Alan Bale, Newbold won 8-6 at Northampton Old Scouts. It keeps Newbold third in Midlands 1 East, with Old Scouts 10th.

Old Laurentians notched up their fourth win of the season, beating Newark 27-24 at Fenley Field. OLs are still bottom on 18 points, with Newark one place above on 23.

This weekend, Newbold and OLs get together for their second league derby of the season, this time at Parkfield Road. Newbold won the first encounter 45-0, but with OLs’ steady improvement this game should be much closer. Kick-off is 2.15pm.

In Midlands 3 West (South) Rugby Lions won 71-0 over Woodrush. The top of the table remains very tight, with Southam (who won at Old Wheatleyans) top with 62 points, Evesham (who beat Old Coventrians 20-10 away) on 61, Lions also on 61, Ledbury (who beat Harbury 24-0) on 57 and Old Coventrians on 53.

This Saturday Lions are away at Shipston on Stour.

In the East division Rugby St Andrews had a good win over St Neots 34-5. Saints are sixth in the table and their visitors 10th. This weekend Saints have a trip to Stewarts & Lloyds, who are ninth in the table.

Rugby Welsh have moved up to second in Midlands 5 West (South) swapping places with Keresley after their 25-17 win at Alwyn Road. Welsh, who are seven points behind leaders Five Ways Old Edwardians, travel to bottom club Wellesbourne this Saturday.
