Ryan Kenny and Amanda Deavy conquer the Two Castles 10k Run

The Coventry Godiva Harriers runner, who celebrated his 24th birthday on the day, crossed the finish line in 32min 48sec.

Kenny, who also won this year’s Regency 10k Run, said: “It was a little bit too warm this morning but I made up for that by appreciating the tremendous support along the route.”

Alistair Smith (33:25), also of Godiva, came second while Kenilworth Runner Philip Gould (33:54) came third.

Leamington C&AC’s Tom Foulerton (34:02) finished fourth overall and won the Men’s Masters event.

Foulerton came in ahead of Ashley Miles (34:12) of Coventry Sphinx and Peter Hawkins (35:22).

Martin Dorrill (37:17), of Kenilworth Runners, was first home in the Men’s Super Masters category.

Peter Bryan (37:39), also of Kenilworth Runners was second and Graham Stephens (38:22) was third.

The first woman home was Amanda Deavy (39:22) of Northbrook AC, who also won the Women’s Masters category.

She said: “This was the first time I’ve taken part in this event but I enjoyed the atmosphere and I’ll definitely be back again.”

Nardia Poole (39:42), of Kenilworth Runners, was the second fastest woman ahead of Rebecca Smith (40:37) of Northbrook AC, in Third who was also second in the Masters section.

Amanda O’Leary (42:08) of Knowle and Dorridge Running Club was the third fastest Women’s Masters runner.

Susie Tawney (43:16), of Leamington C&AC, was the fastest runner in the Women’s Super Masters section.

Tawney was followed by Dawn Compton (44:14) and Gwynn Davies (45:38), of Kenilworth Runners, respectively.

Two Kenilworth School and Sports College pupils were victorious in their respective junior categories.

Godiva runner Julie Emmerson (43:23) finished ahead of last year’s junior winner Faye Barr (43:49) and her fellow Leamington C&AC runner Sophie James (45:38).

Kenilworth Runner Patrick Roddy (35:37), continued his fine form of recent months to win the junior men’s section and finish tenth overall.

He was followed by Leamington C&AC pair Callum Hanlon (35:59) in second and Guy Allen (36:18) in third.

Leamington C&AC were the top running club in both the men’s and women’s sections.

A total of 4,000 runners took part in the event, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Kenilworth with the help of Leamington C&AC.

The weather conditions were ideal for the run, which starts at Warwick Castle and ends at Kenilworth Castle.
