Starting eighth of the 17 drivers, Sedgwick steadily moved through the field and set the fastest lap of the race on the 11th lap to pass team-mate Senna Proctor and claim third place heading on to the final circuit.

However, despite leading to the final corner, Sedgwick was pipped to the line by Proctor by less than a bonnet’s width.

“I got a run on him out of the corner but it was not enough,” admitted Sedgwick. “It was great to get my best result so far on such a challenging track and so close to a podium.”

Race two saw him again demonstrate all his racing skills as he scythed through the field from his sixth row starting position to eighth as the cars entered the final lap.

But, as the cars behind fought for position, Sedgwick was forced wide into the gravel and despite managing to return to the track, he had to settle for 11th.
