Transfer shows right moves at Warwick Racecourse ladies’ event

Winners were hard to find at Warwick’s Ladies’ Day last Thursday, with odds-on shot Transfer the only winning favourite to oblige on the marathon eight-race card, writes David Hucker.

The Warwick Music Night August 23 Claiming Stakes got proceedings under way and the race went to form as the top four in the betting market filled the first four places.

But, the finishing order was not quite as expected, as the 5-2 favourite Danceyourselfdizzy could only manage third behind High Five Society with the winner, ridden by Jimmy Quinn, coming home clear of Urban Kode to score at odds of 3-1.

Trainer Henry Candy has his string in fine form and he followed up the win of Ma Guillet over the course the previous Monday with another success, this time courtesy of Bless You in the first division of the Racing UK On Channel 432 Maiden Fillies’ Stakes over six furlongs.

After Vizean had cut out the early running, Dane O’Neill took Bless You into to the lead two furlongs out and was able to ease down the winner close home for a comfortable success.

The second division went to 5-1 shot Pinch Of Posh, who stepped up on two previous unplaced finishes to beat Sannibel, holding the renewed challenge of the runner-up in the last 100 yards to score by one and three-quarter lengths with Mandatori a neck away in third.

The trip was five furlongs for the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E.B.F. Maiden Fillies’ Stakes and Dam Beautiful made an impressive winning debut under Stephen Craine to beat the well-backed favourite Impassive.

This win completed a fine double for Yorkshire trainer Kevin Ryan, who had taken Royal Ascot’s Norfolk Stakes earlier in the afternoon with Bapak Chinta and has his juvenile team in flying form.

Jockey Richard Mullen and trainer Ed McMahon made up for the defeat of Impassive when Tamasou just held on from the 25-1 outsider The Big Haerth in the following Nidek UK 5Th Anniversary Handicap.

Then Transfer got some money back for punters when taking the House Of Fraser Leamington Handicap by five lengths at odds of 4-9, before wins for Riptide at 20-1 and Invincible Hero at 7-1 filled the bookies’ satchels to make it a bad day for punters.
