Warwick School are targeting national success on three fronts

The under-18s edged past visitors Hampton School 10-9 in a forward-dominated arm wrestle on a heavy pitch.

After the sides had exchanged a penalty apiece, Warwick took advantage of a Hampton error to score a decisive try shortly before the break through number eight Tom Dodd.

Will Stride converted for a 10-3 interval lead.

The pendulum swung in Hampton’s favour in the second half with two successful penalties setting up a nailbiting finish.

However, Warwick spent the final five minutes camped on the Hampton line and, although the visitors stood firm, the home side had done enough to go through.

It was even tighter for the under-15s, who progressed by virtue of being the away side after drawing 12-12 at Bromsgrove School.

Warwick started well, but despite pinning Bromsgrove in their 22, they could not find a clinical edge and they were made to pay when the hosts scored a converted try in the last play of the half.

Warwick started the second half slowly and conceded another try which went unconverted.

With ten minutes remaining, Warwick were given hope when Oscar Roberts sliced through the defence and offloaded to Archie Rippon who touched down beneath the posts.

The converted try set up a grandstand finish and, after a sustained period of pressure, Alex Green bundled his way over the line in the last play of the game.

The touchline conversion was missed but it was Warwick who progressed to meet Wellington College in the last four.

The under-18s will play QEGS Wakefield, with both ties taking place at Allianz Park, the home of Saracens, on March 6.

The under-13s, meanwhile, beat Woodhouse Grove School, Bradford, 13-10 and will meet National Trinity School Croydon in the School Sports Magazine Cup final on March 9.
